Department of Botany at Government Post Graduate College, Maldevta, Raipur, Dehradun, was established in 2017 ( initially UG courses) , with its PG course introduced in 2022. Department has two faculty members and one laboratory staff. Faculty members are specialized in various components of Ecology and Environment, Biotechnology, Genetics, Plant Physiology etc. and have several years of teaching and research experience. Teachers in the Department take deep interest to create conducive environment for learning and towards research by conducting indepth practicals in well equipped laboratory. Induction program is held for newly admitted students in the Department to understand the curriculum and Career Counselling in Botany and Applied Sciences is provided for the students to explore career/ job opportunities in the subject. Students are encouraged to participate in academic and extra- curricular activities through Departmental Association (Vibhagya Parishad). Members of the Vibhagya Parishad are elected by the students from the Department. Various events are organized periodically to integrate and sensitize students to various social, environmental, gender issues etc. For the promotion of Skill Development in students, Department has signed MoU with PLANTICA- Indian Academy of Rural Development (IARD), Dehradun to provide training in Mushroom Cultivation and a Mushroom Cultivation Unit established in the College under the aegis of Mukhyamantri Navachar Yojana, Government of Uttarakhand.
